Good Friday | In-Person at NWH

Friday, April 2 at 6:30pm

Join us for a live streaming of The Passion of the Christ (2004) and an opportunity to reflect and respond as we consider the greatest sacrifice ever made, the perfect Son of God giving his own life for each of us.

This will be an in-person, only, opportunity with prayer, time of reflection, and watching the 2004 film. We will be viewing a recut version of the film. Please read below for more details regarding what to expect.

If you have any questions, please reach out to info@nwhills.com.

What's So Good About Good Friday? Consider the greatness of Good Friday by watching this video by Passion Conferences as we approach April 2.

What to expect from the recut version of The Passion of the Christ:

After the initial release of the 2004 film, filmmakers created a recut version of the film that essentially decreased some of the violent scenes with less intense footage. We will be showing this version on Friday evening. Much of this footage included using different angles from the filming process (i.e. up-close shots of graphic images vs. footage taken from further away). The film is still rated "R" but has 67 cut scenes, 17 scenes with alternative footage, and a number of recuts from the original film.

This site unpacks the scenes that were removed or edited from the original film for those interested in learning more. Please note that there are screenshots from the original film's graphic scenes included on this site.

Will there be space available for some quiet time of reflection if I feel led to exit from watching the film?

Yes, we will have the lobby available to anyone who needs to take some time away from the film. We will have soft, instrumental worship playing as well as water and tea available. We understand that this is a very difficult film to watch and each person that attends has different levels of sensitivity. We encourage you, as an individual to be honest with yourself during this film and if you feel that you need to step away, please don't hesitate. Please do not feel like you need to watch the full-length movie. The Lobby will be available and we welcome you to use that space for prayer, a place to rest with some peaceful music, or quietly process.

Good Friday | At Home

Friday, April 2

This year, we are going to be encouraging NWH family members to take the opportunity to watch the 2004 film, The Passion of the Christ, this year as we consider Good Friday.

We will be hosting an in-person opportunity to view the film on the NWH campus at 6:30pm but we will not be live streaming this service due to copyrights for this film. If you are unable to join us in person for Good Friday this year, we encourage you to watch the film, possibly with your Community Group or family, and spend some time in reflection following the film.

Stay tuned for an introductory video from Pastor Josh Carstensen.

Here are some recommendations for watching the film at an affordable price.

If you are unable to pay for the rental of this film, please reach out to our office. We'd be happy to talk through some options with you.

Amazon Prime (FREE) - with Prime Membership

Pluto TV (FREE)

Vudo TV (FREE)

Please note: If you would like to watch the recut version of the film, you will need to search specifically for that version.

Good Friday is heavy but there is hope, Resurrection Sunday is coming!
