At the end of 2011 our Northwest Hills family gave special GO (Global Outreach) offerings, primarily to cover the relocation expenses of five Northwest Hills members who will go out as new full-time missionaries in 2012, but also to assist with the travel costs for two Northwest Hills short-term mission teams that will serve overseas this year. I am pleased to report that the total of those offerings amounted to $21,874.
Great job, church family, providing for those special global outreach needs!
In case you haven’t noticed, God has been moving us more and more to be a “sending church,” a church that not only supports global outreach but also inspires, prepares, and sends out its own members to serve in places where the good news of Jesus and the ministry of Jesus are desperately needed. Starting several years ago, we have not only had the privilege of sending out new long-term missionaries, but also regularly sending greater numbers of our own high school students, college students, and adults of all ages to serve on Northwest Hills short-term missions teams. Additionally, we have seen a significant increase in the number of individuals, couples, and families from our congregation that are initiating and funding their own participation in short-term mission endeavors.
That’s exciting! When we presented our Northwest Hills dream a few years ago, we said that one key to “making a difference everywhere” by “saturating the world with servants” is to: maintain a strong missions focus in our church, inspiring, training, supporting and sending missionaries worldwide. As we have prayed for and dedicated ourselves to this, God has graciously answered and increased our passion and ability for global outreach. And I believe that this is just the beginning of what He intends to do in and through us.
Let’s give Him thanks and keep GO-ing!
