Most of Corvallis goes into high gear in September, and so does Northwest Hills. That's why we call the first Sunday after Labor Day Acceleration Sunday. In auto racing lingo, that's "green flag" time, when we hit the accelerator and rev up to full speed to begin a new year of ministry.
Happenings this Acceleration Sunday will include: special worship and teaching from Scripture to refresh our spirits and energize our walk with God; thanksgiving for recent ministry accomplishments and for new, upcoming ministry opportunities; many of our groups and ministry teams providing information at displays in our courtyard; donuts and beverages served in the courtyard between 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. worship services, children, two years old through fourth grad, moving up to their new Treasure Harbor Sunday School classes; our middle school and high school groups launching their new seasons of ministry in the Student Ministries Center; many reconnections with our incredible Northwest Hills family members after our summer breaks and vacations.
Make sure, then, to be present with us on this special Sunday, September 11. but don't just come to celebrate the start of a new ministry year. rather, use this day to get off the mark and move forward in a fresh and focused way in your walk with God. as if waving a green flag (signal in racing that the track is clear and open action) come with your heart humble before God, open God, and seeking His touch on your life. Trust the Lord with all your heart, yield your whole self to him, and accelerate with us into a new year of spiritual growth, rewards, and rest in His care.
Run in such a way that you may win (I Corinthians 9:24)
