Our congregation has taken on three special mission projects this fall.

Uganda Timothy Retreat
A team traveled to the Karamojong region of Uganda November 27 through December 9 to encourage and assist our missionaries Dr. Val and Waffle Lomillo and Dr. Moses and Christine Otim. They hosted the Timothy Retreat for 170 orphans and disadvantaged children. This five-day retreat provides meals, health checkups, Bible teaching, crafts and games, and a gift bag of fun as well as essential items. The mission team also spread lots of love and encouraged the students to keep pursuing their education.

The team also participated in a Goat Distribution. Anywhere from 50-70 goats are given to widows and orphans as a loan. Once the goat has its first kid, that kid is given to another person in need. The original goat is then owned by the orphan/widow to provide income for them from milk and any future kids. This program has been very successful in providing a means of survival for the widows and orphans.

Brazil Mission
We sent a team of eight college students and leaders to São Paulo, Brazil, December 8 through 20. They joined with our ministry partner, Restoration Ministries, to provide hope, encouragement and the love of Jesus to children in the favelas (slums) of São Paulo. The team helped host a weekend camp for approximately 60 children, assisted at the graduation celebration of those who have completed the English school, and put on Christmas parties for about 400 children. Finally, the team went into the favelas and prayed with families in their homes.

Nakayot Peace Village School
Five years ago, a school was built in the Peace Village of Nakayot, Uganda, to start educating the over 800 children who live there. Two years ago a strong storm destroyed the school so children have been meeting under a tree. Our church is partnering with First Baptist and Suburban churches of Corvallis to send a construction team from January 15 to February 2, 2017, to assist the Ugandans in rebuilding their school, dig a new water bore hole and build a new latrine system for the school.

Prayer and financial support are needed to accomplish these missions. The total financial need for the projects is $25,000, of which $14,100 has already been contributed. The remaining need is $10,900.To contribute, please mark your gifts to Northwest Hills for “Fall Missions”.
