An August Note from Pastor Andy

At Northwest Hills we have a track record of combining fun and outreach in the month of August, and this August is no exception. Our all-church BBQ & Swim at Osborn Aquatic Center happens on Sunday evening, August 11, and Beach Olympics for middle school and high school students (a day-long extravaganza of games, food, music and good news of Jesus) will take place at Ona Beach on Saturday, August 17. Both events are great fun for Northwest Hillers, but they are especially meant to include our friends and neighbors who do not yet participate regularly in any church. Make sure you invite such folks that you know to join our fun, and introduce them at these events to our great Northwest Hills family.

Also this month, we’re happily participating again in the School Supply Drive for local teachers. It’s a very simple, but highly effective and thoroughly enjoyable, outreach. We all on our own buy a few classroom supplies that under-resourced school teachers often have to pay for themselves, put those supplies in a big pile in our church lobby over the course of a few weeks, and then haul them over to our ministry partner, Love INC, to donate to the teachers on the School Supplies Giveaway day (August 30 this year). That only takes a little effort on our part, but it greatly blesses our local teachers and gives them a very encouraging glimpse of the generous love of Jesus. For details about donating supplies and helping with the giveaway, check out the Supply Drive info in our lobby, on our website, and in this newsletter.

Go ahead, mix a little fun and outreach this month. The results are always interesting, and often make an eternal impact in the lives of others.
