Make a difference everywhere! That's our dream at Northwest Hills Community Church. And that dream is the driving force behind this summer's new event, the High Seas Expedition Family Staycation. We want to make a lasting impact on the spiritual health of families in our community.
In order to impact the whole family, we need to connect with the kids AND their parents. So we're planning a Family Staycation, not just a Vacation Bible School for kids. We're going to invite families that need a church home. Of course the kids will learn about God's love, but maybe even more importantly, we're inviting the parents to stay and participate and make friends at Northwest Hills.
Once the parents meet some folks here and see how friendly and down-to-earth we are, they'll be more likely to start attending on Sunday mornings. That way, the whole family can learn about God's love and start growing as disciples of Jesus Christ together. that's the kind of difference we want to make in our community! That's the dream for the Family Staycation!
Here are answers to a few of the most common questions:
Q: What is the "High Seas Expedition"?
A: It's the theme for this year's preschool and elementary-age activities-students will partake in a swashbuckling High Seas Adventure through God's Word.
Q: What kind of activities will the adults participate in?
A: Going out to dinner, scrapbooking, par-3 golfing, playing Pictionary-type games, or hiking.
Q: We had a live cheetah at the Narnia Party in December - is there a special "guest" we can tell our friends about to entice them to come to the Family Staycation?
A: Yes there is! We're going to have a visit from a one-legged pirate! and his sister!
Q: Sounds fun, so what are the details?
A: It all happens Monday thru Friday, August 22-26 from 6-8pm each night. The cost is $30 for each preschool and elementary student (to offset the cost of such a large event). Everyone else in the family is free. Guests that don't have a church home come free of charge. And if the cost is a problem or anyone, talk to Pastor Curt. We'll make sure no one misses out.
