A May Note from Pastor Rich & Carolyn Hagenbaugh
This will be our first official “Hello” to all the people of Northwest Hills Community Church. We are Carolyn and Rich Hagenbaugh and we have been chosen to serve you as your Interim Pastor. Allow us to introduce ourselves.
Our ministry experience began in 1969 when I became the interim pastor of Westside Baptist Church in Los Banos, California. In 1971 I became the full time Pastor of the Aims Community Church, an In Faith (formerly AMF) church located outside of Corbett, Oregon (near Trout Creek Bible Camp). Ministry took another change when I became the Senior Pastor of Gateway Baptist Church of Portland, Oregon (August, 1976). We retired from there in June of 2006 due to some health issues which have since been resolved. Our 30 years at Gateway Baptist were, without a doubt, some of the best years of our lives. In September, 2012 we went to Grace Baptist Church in Newberg, Oregon where we served as Interim Pastor for the next sixteen months.
I am a product of Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon and Carolyn from Moody Bible Institute. We met and married in 1964 and this year will celebrate fifty years of marriage. All of these years, we have been a team in ministry. Carolyn feels her calling is to be involved in ministry wherever we may be according to the best use of her talents and gifting. Our ministry together has been best displayed in relationships. I do my best work in interpersonal relationships, hospital visitation, etc. My desire and passion is to make a difference in the lives of people and be an enabler in their spiritual growth and walk.
Carolyn and I have two delightful, grown children. Our daughter, RaeLynn is married to Doug Stenchever and has two of our grandchildren, Delaina (14) and Nathanial (12). That family lives near Olympia, Washington, and will be happy to have us on the west side of the mountains for awhile. Our Son Ric Hagenbaugh, is married to Jodi and is the dad of our other two grandchildren, Riley (also 14) and Mack (11). They live near Moscow, Idaho and will be slightly disappointed that we will be gone for awhile. Both of our children are very supportive of the ministry that we are doing at this time. Outside of the Lord and His ministry, our relationship with our kids and grandchildren is the joy of our lives.
We can’t tell you how excited we are to come and minister alongside the Elders and Staff of Northwest Hills. We are also looking forward to meeting all of you and getting to know and love you. We have just celebrated the Cross of Jesus and His resurrection. Perhaps the greatest three words coined in any language are the words, “HE IS RISEN!” It is what makes all of us into one and we look forward to being in your midst while the search committee seeks the new pastor for your church. May the Lord richly bless every one of you as we will be Serving Christ Together.
