A January Note from Pastor Josh
Happy New Year church family! I hope you were able to get out and enjoy the snow of December and most importantly I hope you were able to spend some time remembering that Christ came into the world to save sinners!
As we thank God for his provision in 2013 we look forward to what he is going to do in 2014.
In the book of James, chapter four verse two, we read, “You do not have, because you do not ask.” This year my prayer is that we would be a church who is frequently asking the Lord. We need to be constantly asking the Lord to work in ways that only he can in 2014. We need to ask God for his blessing in providing us with the right senior pastor to lead our church. We need to ask God that he would keep our church faithful to our passion of being One Family pursuing One Passion reaching out to All People. We should ask God to grow us as a church this year, to grow our love for him, to grow our desire to know his word, to grow our desire to love others, and to grow us into the followers he has called us to be.
We need to be asking the Lord to give us strengthened faith in him who is able to do more than we could ask or imagine. In verse three of James chapter four we read, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.” Let this also be a reminder to us this year that as we are asking the Lord to lead us and to bless us, that we are asking that HIS name be glorified, not ours. So, my prayer is that we would make it our resolve this year to pray that God would be most glorified through our church and that his desires for our church would also be our desires. Let us seek his will this year, not ours.
With prayer being such an important part of 2014 we wanted to start the year off with a few opportunities to pray and worship and seek the Lord together. On January 12 at 5pm everyone is invited to a corporate time of prayer lead by the Pastors and Elders. During this gathering we will specifically ask for the Lord’s blessing in 2014. We will ask for strength and unity as a body, that together we would herald the good news to our city and beyond our borders. We will also spend time asking God to provide a senior pastor.
Two weeks later on January 26, we will gather as a church for Refuel, a family dinner and time of worship, like we did last spring. I would highly recommend that you do everything you can to make it out as this is such an encouraging time to seek the Lord together through singing.
I hope to see you at these two events, but more importantly I hope that you will join me in praying that God would be greatly glorified through our church in the year to come.
Thank you for your prayers,
